Intune MDM

Mobile Device Management (MDM) is cloud security software used by organisations to protect corporate emails and documents on phones tablets and laptops.

MDM provides secure access to corporate resources with managed security policies, device pin lock and jailbreak detection.

If a device is lost or stolen, all company data can be removed leaving personal data in place.

Microsoft Intune

Microsoft Intune provides IT administrators with an easy way to manage all connected devices. It combines mobile device management (MDM) with mobile application management (MAM) in a single console.

Intune provides secure management of personal and corporate-owned devices across the most popular platforms, including Windows, MacOS, iOS, and Android. You can provide users with the ability to enroll their own devices for management as well as install corporate applications from the self-service Company Portal.

Intune provides the flexibility to extend these capabilities to your existing business apps with the Intune App Wrapping Tool and offers secure content viewing using the Intune Managed Browser, PDF Viewer, AV Player, and Image Viewer apps.

Why do we need MDM?

We live in an age of smartphones, tablets, and laptops with access to sensitive corporate data. Connected devices could pose a big risk to the data stored and being transmitted through the network.  MDM software ensures that all mobile devices connected are secured and the data on the network remains secure. Without MDM data stored on devices is not secure and could fall into the wrong hands. MDM also protects data against malware and viruses that could compromise the network.

MDM solutions allow administrators to monitor and control devices remotely. MDM can restrict changes to the device settings and restrict apps and content. If a device is compromised, it can be locked or wiped remotely.

What about company data on employees’ own devices (BYOD)?

You can protect app data without enrolling devices by implementing app-level policies. Mobile Application Management (MAM) protection can require a pin to open app data, restrict sharing of app data between apps and prevent saving of data to personal storage. With a device enrolled in MDM administrators have full control over company data, with MAM protection your data remains protected on any device.

While a stolen phone or laptop is a headache due to the cost of replacement, the more serious repercussion is with data theft. As an increasing number of people use their own devices for work purposes. Any stolen or lost device that is not encrypted or password-protected can put your corporate data at risk.
